Action Filled Summer Movie Season

So it’s been some time since my last post. For anyone who reads my blog, apologies for disappearing randomly. I had six straight days of work that sucked the life out of me. I don’t seem to have the greatest luck with finding time to post things. But during the time since the last post I came up with a fun project that I should be able to work on regularly (if I keep telling myself that I’ll post regularly maybe it will come true lol). I’ll get into that in a bit but for now let’s actually get to the point of my title.

This year’s summer movie season has started out strong and I’ve been lucky enough to have seen three of the best movies that are out right now. I know what you’re saying, “how did you have time to see movies but you didn’t have time to post anything?” Well that’s none of your business. Just kidding, actually I mainly just went after work (one of the many perks of working at a mall, the theater is right there). I didn’t get to kick off summer movies right on May 1st because I was out of town, but I finally got to see Avengers: Age of Ultron the following weekend. And it was awesome! I was already excited for the second Avengers movie and for me, it didn’t disappoint. It was a lot of fun and was almost non-stop action. Next up for me was Mad Max: Fury Road. I wasn’t originally planning on seeing this, I hadn’t seen the original films with Mel Gibson so I didn’t have any vested interest in it. This was the backup movie that my friends wanted to see since our theater no longer had Ex Machina. It was kind of nice going into a movie mostly blind, something I haven’t gotten to do in a long time. I knew the basic premise of the Mad Max series but that was it. So what did I think of Fury Road? It was fucking amazing!! It was easily one of the best action movies I’ve seen in a while. Like Avengers, it was nearly non-stop action but was very well-paced with moments for the characters (and the audience) to catch their breaths for a few minutes. I highly recommend checking this one out. Finally, the last movie I saw was actually just this past Friday. I went to see Jurassic World. As I mentioned in my last post, I just saw Jurassic Park for the first time. I didn’t get a chance to see all of Lost World or any of Jurassic Park 3 but thanks to a friend and some hilarious internet reviews (Nostalgia Critic for anyone wondering) I felt pretty well informed going into the new one. I thought Jurassic World was good. It wasn’t quite on par with the last two movies I’ve seen but it was still really fun. Even someone like me who doesn’t know the series super well found plenty to like about it. Sure the plot is ridiculous, but to me that’s a lot of what’s fun about the series. So that’s my summer movie experience thus so far. I enjoyed all three movies and I’d give my recommendation to each of them. As for what to look forward to, there were a couple trailers that stuck out to me. I’m excited for The Gift, not just because I thought it looked good but also because Jason Bateman being in a thriller intrigues me. I’ve only ever seen him in comedies. I think I got this trailer before Fury Road. The other one I’m looking forward to is The Martain. This was one of the trailers before Jurassic World and it looks really good. I originally thought it had something to do with Interstellar because it had Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain but apparently not. This one just said coming soon, so I don’t know if it will be a summer movie or not but either way I’m looking forward to seeing it. Can’t argue with another Ridley Scott sci-fi movie.

So there you have it, that’s what I’ve been up to lately. I hope you enjoyed my ramblings and I should be back soon with more info on the project I mentioned.
