As the title says, this review will contain major spoilers. If you don’t want the whole movie ruined for you, please stop reading now, go watch it, and then come back to this post! If you want to know a little about the movie before you watch it, you can check out my spoiler-free review. With that being said, if you’re still here then let’s get to the review.
I’ve split my review of Ex Machina into two posts. This post is basically just my recommendation and some general thoughts on the movie. There may be a few minimal spoilers, but I won’t get into any major details or plot points. The second post will be a more in-depth look at the movie that will contain spoilers. The movie cover says it’s “a mesmerizing spellbinder” and “you’ve never seen anything like it.” Do I think that’s accurate? Absolutely. Read More »
First of all, props to Let’s Go To The Movies for hosting this blogathon. If you like movies then I’m sure you’ll find something to enjoy on her blog, so go check it out!
I got into this blogathon a bit late, so unfortunately I just didn’t have time to watch all of the movies on my list again. Fortunately, I watched many of these so many times as a kid (some I still watch quite a bit) that I remember them pretty damn well. I had some difficulty narrowing down my list, so instead of writing a top 5, I decided I would make it a top 10. There isn’t one thing that ties all of my picks together (other than liking them as a child), I chose each them for various reasons. So let’s get to it, in no particular order, here are the top 10 movies from my childhood:Read More »
I don’t even know where to begin. I was browsing recommendations on Netflix last night and found a movie called Parallels. It sounded pretty interesting and since my cable was out due to a storm, I figured I’d watch it. Parallels is about two siblings, Ronan and Beatrix, who each receive a message from their father, Alex, to return home. They discover that he’s not there and find a bag with a weird device and some odd newspaper clippings. Joined by their friend Harry, they go to the address that was in the message and find an abandoned building. Turns out the building is a machine that can transport them to different versions of Earth, all co-existing simultaneously. Using the building they must find their father and figure out what’s going on. Sounds pretty interesting right? I thought so, but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I would recommend giving this movie a watch if you haven’t already. There will be minor spoilers ahead but I’ll try not to give anything major away. Read More »
Ah the ’80s! A time when one man could purchase an armory of weapons with no questions asked and your hair was a suitable replacement for a motorcycle helmet. I’m so happy that I found The Terminator on Netflix. I’ve seen the movie plenty of times before on TV, but this was the first time I’ve sat through it beginning to end uncut. Watching this again made me realize that I remember Terminator 2: Judgement Day much better than the original, so there was a decent bit of it that I didn’t recall too well (it’s also been quite a while). My memories of the Terminator movies aside, I guess the real question is: Does it still hold up? I say, hell yea it does!Read More »
I’m not that experienced with Twitter, until now I’ve mainly used it as a chaotic and confusing news feed for a bunch of things. But I figured I’d make one to go with this blog for the hell of it. There have been a couple of times I’ve thought of something to put on here but wasn’t at home and trying to write a post on my phone sucked. So this way I can share random bits of movie news and other stupid thoughts I have wherever I am! So if you feel so inclined, you can follow me Follow @mindless_static! That’s all for now but I should have a post tomorrow with my thoughts on a classic movie that I happened to discover is on Netflix.
Since I didn’t really have anything planned to post this week I figured I’d just talk about some movies I’m looking forward to. I’ve been really wanting to see Inside Out but at the same time I don’t feel it’s a movie I need to see at the big theater (not to mention for Regal’s prices), even though I’ve been hearing great things about it. I’m hoping our small, local movie theater gets it soon. I also hope I can get someone to see it with me because I don’t like being that guy that goes to a movie by himself lol. While I was looking up what movies are currently playing there, I actually stumbled upon something awesome.Read More »
