The Newer KFC Commercials Are Less Weird

Darrell Hammond is no longer the creepy colonel in KFC’s commercials. I for one am pretty happy about that, nothing against Hammond (again if it was a skit on SNL I probably would’ve found it hilarious), but as advertising for the company it was just plain wrong. Now we have Norm Macdonald in the white suit. I like Norm’s version of the colonel much better, he seems more straightforward and doesn’t come off as an unsettling chicken fiend (at least I don’t think so). I’ve only seen one ad with him where he references the previous commercials saying that that guy wasn’t the colonel because he is the real Colonel Sanders. I’m not sure if there are other ones or not (I haven’t really been paying attention), but that’s the one I see the most. An article I read about this ad campaign has me wondering if they’re going to have a different actors rotate through the role, possibly with other SNL alum. It would certainly be interesting to see different takes on the character. I like Norm Macdonald as the new Colonel Sanders. Hell, partly just because he’s not insulting/terrifying (again, not in my opinion). That’s my two cents, feel free to let me know what you think of the new colonel.

So I wrote this post as a sequel to another one of my posts. My first post about the KFC commercials is currently my highest viewed post. I really have no idea why, I guess a lot people are interested in who’s slingin’ their chicken. As of this writing, it has 92 views. So thank you everyone who has checked out my blog because of that post! I urge to take a look at some of the other things I’ve written about, you might find something else to like. Thanks again to anyone who reads my ramblings, see ya next time!
