So I decided to start a regular segment thing on here. Every Tuesday (as long as I have a movie to talk about) I’ll do a post about the trailer for an upcoming movie. If I can’t find anything new that I want to spotlight then I may talk about old trailers for movies I like. I have ideas for the next few weeks and I’m actually going to start writing up a blog schedule for myself so that I can try to get on track to work on this thing regularly (generally an empty promise, I know). Anyone out that who reads my blog regularly (if you exist) or that has checked out my blog will know that I’ve been terrible at keeping up with posts or actually posting things that I’ve mentioned to be upcoming in other posts. I really want to work on this blog but I’m just terrible at motivating myself (anyone reading this, feel free to comment and set a fire under me to get writing!). I’m hoping that having a written schedule that fits in with my actual works schedule will help. It will make it feel more important. So for the next three weeks at least, I have trailers to talk about. I’m currently writing them up to schedule, so be assured that this will actually happen lol. Also, if anyone who checks this out knows of an upcoming movie that I may not have heard of, let me know and I’ll check it out. That’s all I’ve got for now, see ya next time!
This episode is from the second season of Are You Afraid of the Dark? and based on the title, I think I actually remember this one. Oh hey, it’s Clarissa! Daphne and Charlie are sent to stay with Charlie’s aunts while his parents are away at a wedding. It’s stated that this winter is very cold (cold enough to freeze a ghost maybe? hmm). The house is a pretty typical spooky old house and the children arrive at night. The aunts seem pretty weird, but that’s probably just because they’re odd old ladies living in a creepy house. Also why did Charlie’s babysitter go with him? Can’t his aunts just watch him? Isn’t that the point of this? I dunno. Charlie is rich, which at least explains why they arrived in a limo. His aunts make a forced sounding comment about ghosts which spooks Charlie. During his bath, he starts hearing voices….but it turns out it’s just his aunts and Daphne talking, which he can hear traveling up the old pipes. Read More »
The intro to this show is still genuinely creepy (damn clown doll). The Tale of the Laser Maze is one of Tucker’s stories. I don’t remember the later episodes where Tucker took over the midnight society as much as the earlier stuff. The story starts with two girls, Ashley and Cara, fighting in a Tae Kwon Do match. Turns out they’re sisters and they don’t have a very good win/lose dynamic after their match and the teacher tells them to get along. After class a weirdo named Drake approaches them and tells them that the match was awesome and he thinks they’d make great players for his companies new game that’s only for the “best of the best”, the Laser Maze. After arriving at the arena, they ask where everyone else is and find out that it’s just them. Seems pretty fishy. The Laser Maze is like laser tag, but they shoot the lasers from they’re goggles and aim by looking. This actually sounds pretty awesome if you ask me. Ashley scores the first point, quickly followed by a point for Cara. Drake is shown monitoring them from some room, taking note of things like they’re accuracy and agility. Read More »
Written between Back to the Future Part II and Back to the Future Part III:
So I just sat through the first two BTTF movies and it was amazing seeing them on the big screen! Sidenote: theaters must make a killing on concessions during marathons like this, I’ve watched a lot of people leave between movies and come back with more. I can only imagine how it will be during the Star Wars event (sadly my theater isn’t getting that one). I’m a little tired but I’m ready for Part III, which should be starting soon. I’m excited to see what they play before this one, the stuff between 1 and 2 was hilarious. There was a hover board commercial and an amazing trailer for Jaws 19. I hope they are included as bonus features in my collector’s set, which arrived today. I haven’t gotten a chance to really go through it yet. I can’t think of anything else to say right now, I just needed something to do between movies. It’s not very easy typing this on my phone either. The last movie is about to start so I’ll update this post later. See ya soon!Read More »
I guess I have something cool to talk about today after all. I forgot that I got the time themed Loot Crate for this month and it has some awesome Back to the Future collectibles in it! I’ve only gotten four crates I think, but this is easily my favorite one that I’ve received. I woke up to a delivery conformation on my phone and immediately headed outside to claim my loot. So let’s dive into this month’s box and see what we’ve got!
First up is this month’s shirt. This is the Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure item and it has the great message of Be Excellent to Each Other.
So thanks to Amazon saying my card was declined (because they used old info instead of the new card info I updated the order with *angrily shakes fist*), I won’t be receiving my order until Thursday. I was hoping to post a review of the set today but here I am venting about Amazon screwing up my order instead *sigh*. I updated the payment on the order like a month ago and deleted the old card but they used it anyway! Whatever, at least I’m still getting it and it wasn’t just outright cancelled. So I’ll be posting about that later in the week. In other news, I will be seeing the re-release of the BTTF trilogy on Wednesday which is going to be amazing. A post about my experience may not be up until the weekend because I have to work on Thursday and I’ll probably be too tired to write anything up Wednesday night. That’s all I’ve got for this week. Next week, I’ll be posting some fun stuff for Halloween. I wanted to have something up each week this month but time just didn’t allow for it so I’ll cram a few fun things in next week (at least one Top X list and one or two horror reviews). I think that’s all for now, so see ya next time!
Well hello there! I have been away for some time, but rest assured I am back. There really isn’t some great excuse as to why I haven’t been posting on here. I just got overwhelmed by laziness (that and I’ve been hardcore playing MGSV: The Phantom Pain). So it’s October and since I’m a big horror fan I guess that means I should talk about horror movies, what with Halloween and all. But that’s not all! I will also be writing about Back to the Future! I have the super amazing 30th anniversary Blu-ray set pre-ordered and I decided to jump back into LootCrate for a month because the theme is time and it will include something related to BTTF. I’m also planning to see the re-release in theaters on October 21 (hopefully Regal’s site didn’t lie to me that our theater will be showing it). So as you can see, I’m planning to jump right back into this thing. I’m already writing and preparing some upcoming posts in hopes of staving off my laziness by staying busy. That’s all I’ve got to say for now, so wish me luck on actually keeping up with this blog! See ya next time and Happy October everyone!
Darrell Hammond is no longer the creepy colonel in KFC’s commercials. I for one am pretty happy about that, nothing against Hammond (again if it was a skit on SNL I probably would’ve found it hilarious), but as advertising for the company it was just plain wrong. Now we have Norm Macdonald in the white suit. I like Norm’s version of the colonel much better, he seems more straightforward and doesn’t come off as an unsettling chicken fiend (at least I don’t think so). I’ve only seen one ad with him where he references the previous commercials saying that that guy wasn’t the colonel because he is the real Colonel Sanders. I’m not sure if there are other ones or not (I haven’t really been paying attention), but that’s the one I see the most. Read More »
This is going to be a much shorter post that I intended it to be. I saw The Gift yesterday and it was a really good movie. It still sits at a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and it deserves it. I highly recommend this movie if you’re a fan of psychological thrillers. Jason Bateman was great in this movie and it was nice to see him in something other than a comedy. Joel Edgerton made his directorial debut with this film and he also wrote and starred in it. He played the awkward, creepy guy part really well. Some of the conversations between Gordo (Edgerton) and Simon (Bateman) were painful to watch because of how awkward they were. Overall the performances from the main actors were excellent. This movie is a bit of a slow burn, nothing really starts happening until later in the movie. I don’t mind a good slow burn like this, when everything finally comes out in the end it’s quick a shock. This is easily one of the most fucked up movies I’ve seen in a while. I can’t say a whole lot about the plot without ruining it so I’m just going to leave it vague. That’s why this is going to be such a short post, I don’t want to give anything away because I think everyone should just go and see the movie. This is a movie that keeps you guessing until the very end. I was hooked into it from the first trailer I saw and it was definitely worth seeing at the theater. That’s all I really want to say about The Gift, so go see it! See ya next time!
